Mabeale’s story

Growing up, every day after school, I would sit in the OBGYN clinic waiting room for my mom to get out of work. My walks to the clinic brought me joy because I was excited to leave school. A place that I felt unfilled in because nowhere in the curriculum did I learn anything about how to love myself. The only time anything reminded me of the powerful Black girl I am was when I learned about Harriet Tubman. Feeling purposeless, still, every day, I completed my homework in the OBGYN clinic, not knowing I was so close to my life’s line of work.

Being taken advantage of by family, friends, and the education system, I found myself being a part of or creating spaces that would pour into me so that I can be alive and well. Yoga was the first place I felt true peace, and I wanted to share that feeling with more women. Sisterhood was and still is my medicine, so throughout my time in high school, college, and graduate school, I created spaces for women to gather to be reminded of their power, heal, and be poured into through mental and physical wellness.

I’ve been showing up even before being formally trained with faith and confidence, but I knew that to support US on a greater level, I had to sharpen the skills god naturally gifted me with. I did this by getting trained in yoga, prenatal yoga, becoming a full-spectrum doula, and getting my master’s in marriage and family therapy.

Today, I use all of my experiences, West African culture, collective knowledge, and skills to create online yoga for mental health made intentionally for women and birthing people.

This is not your ordinary yoga class because I’m no ordinary gurlllllll. Thank you for your interest in Mabeale. We are just getting started, and I pray you stay along for thee wellness experience.
